We are massively delighted at the Club to announce our partnership with Next College Student Athlete! The new partnership will be a pilot run in its first year with the U16, and U17 squads before becoming a fulltime tool for college recruitment the following year among the U15-U18 squads. This is a massive achievement for the Club, and it will usher in a new era of College Recruitment Help and Opportunity at Blast FC Soccer Academy. More details to follow soon!
We are delighted at the Club with the recent run of results from all of our squads as they begin their preparation for the remainder of the winter season, and looking ahead into the spring season. Next issue we will share many more details regarding our new recruiting platform, a look ahead at the Disney Showcase, and more opportunities to raise funds for the Blast FC Foundation, plus a spotlight on another succesful academy graduate.
Go Blast! More to follow!
The second tournament of the season for our U15-U18 squads kicked off this past weekend at the Indianapolis College Showcase, and marked the final tournament for our U14’s fall season. College coaches were in abundance over a 3-day weekend that saw our teams try and replicate their form from their previous showcase. The weather was beautiful over the first 2 days, ultimately leading to a very cold and rainy day on the final day of the showcase that tested all of our squads’ endurance and mentality.
As our youngest squad competing this weekend, the 2008s showed tremendous grit and collective team spirit to finish out the weekend crowned Showcase Flight Champions with 8 points from 2 wins and 2 ties. Facing a very tough schedule, our 2008s defeated TKO Premier 1-0 under the lights in their opening game, and were unfortunate not to score in their second game against Sporting Columbia that ended 0-0. A resounding 3-0 win over Midwest United FC was followed by a hard fought 2-2 tie against LG Celtics that saw the U14s experience their second game under the lights during the weekend!
Great tourney 2008s! What a fantastic ending to your season!
Our 2007 squad continued their steady pace of growth with another solid display over 3 days at the Indy College Showcase. Finishing the weekend with 2 wins and a tie would mean that the U15s would be crowned Showcase Champions. A strong display of possession failed to materialize more goals in a 1-0 win against Dynamo FC, and set up a rematch against Falls City FC. A strong performance and 2 fantastic first half goals saw the 2007s come out on top 2-0, and set up a match up against Nationals Capital Area who were also undefeated. An incredible first half PK save kept the clean sheet intact, and the U15s struck the crossbar late on, but were unable to deliver the final blow seeing the match end tied 0-0.
Fantastic second showcase 2007s! Keep this fantastic momentum going!
The 2006 squad showcased themselves strongly, and continued their preparation for the Disney College Showcase with 2 win and a tie over very strong competition at the Indy College Showcase. The opening afternoon game saw the U16s win a competitive match against Bavarian United 2-1, and was followed by a strong 2-0 display against Midwest United FC. The final day saw a very testy match turn ugly against Central Illinois United when one of our own was brought down from behind in a clear red card offense, but was allowed to play on after causing serious injury. After going down a goal, our 2006 squad rallied around their injured teammate and managed to comeback from behind and finish the match tied 1-1. The final result would ensure that the U16s would finish the weekend as Showcase Champions.
Terrific weekend lads! Keep pushing onto Disney!
The 2005 squad followed up their terrific start to the season at the KHA Showcase by winning 2 games, and tying once over 3 days at the Indy College Showcase to finish another weekend crowned Showcase Champions. A resounding 2-0 win over MDL opponent Cleveland Force started the lads off well, and set up a goalscoring extravaganza against Columbus Express that would see the match as a 4-0 win with some very entertaining goals. The U17s pushed hard during a windy and rainy afternoon that saw the final match against LG Celtics finish 1-1, and would see them capture their second Showcase title in a row. This team is really showing strong potential!
Unbelievable start to your year 2005s, can’t wait to see you perform at the Disney College Showcase!
The first match of the weekend saw the 2004s matched up against MDL newcomer Sporting Michigan, and after a lively first half our U18 squad was leading by 1, but a drop-in concentration saw the lead and chances squandered finishing the day as a 2-2 tie. Under pressure for a result on the second day against Tennessee Showcase, the 2004s kept the majority of possession and created chances, but were unlucky to convert and gave up a late goal to lose the game 1-2. On the final day, the team was unable to shake out of their funk and, even while dominating possession, were unable to convert their chances into goals. They would lose the final match against Louisville City Academy on the back of 2 PKs 0-2.
Difficult weekend U18s, but we know you will bounce back from this! We are all with you!
